Pauline, a 58 year old woman from London, had been diagnosed by her local hospital with cancer of the pancreas. After a few days, the hospital changed her diagnosis to kidney cancer. Pauline contacted Alivia with a request to verify her diagnosis and advise on best treatment options.
Alivia’s medical intelligence unit reviewed Pauline’s files and solicited a second opinion from a leading kidney cancer expert. The expert determined that she had a special aggressive metastatic form of kidney cancer that required immediate treatment. Alivia advised Pauline to begin immediate treatment with the expert. In parallel Alivia coordinated a gene sequencing of her tumour, a process that can reveal detailed information about the tumour, which aids to prescribe accurate treatment.
Alivia also organized an Expert Panel, performed as a conference call with seven international kidney cancer experts, who discussed her diagnosis, current treatment and whether any alternative treatment options were available.
All of this was coordinated by Pauline’s dedicated Personal Health
Manager who also ensured access to relevant information about nutrition, exercise and mental health to keep her as strong as possible in her fight against the disease.
The cancer is now undetectable in Pauline’s kidney and Alivia continues to monitor Pauline to ensure she receives the best possible treatment and care.
